Popis
Unless you are rich, being charming is useless. Romance is a privilege of the wealthy, not a profession for the unemployed. The poor should be practical and prosaic. It is better to have a steady income than to be fascinating. These are the great truths of modern life that Hughie Erskine never understood. Poor Hughie! Intellectually, we must admit, he was not very remarkable. He never said anything brilliant in his life, not even anything malicious. But he was, on the other hand, astonishingly good-looking, with his curly brown hair, well-defined profile, and gray eyes. He was as popular among men as among women, and had all the qualities—except the ability to make money.
